Brand: Technics

The Technics SL-MC4 is a quadraphonic turntable introduced by Sony Corporation (formerly Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, the parent company of Technics at the time) in 1977. This turntable was designed to play back quadraphonic vinyl records that featured four separate audio channels instead of the traditional two channels typically found on stereo records. The SL-MC4 had four speakers built into the cabinet, each dedicated to a specific audio channel, which provided listeners with a more immersive and detailed audio experience. The turntable also featured a two-speed (33.3 and 45 RPM) design, automatic speed change, and a built-in preamp. However, due to the high cost of producing quadraphonic recordings, as well as the limited availability of quadraphonic vinyl records, the SL-MC4 and other quadraphonic audio technologies had limited success in the market and have now become collector's items.
